A bit of history · Sinquerim sits directly below Fort Aguada; the headland here has guarded the Mandovi estuary since 1612. Candolim grew as the quiet Portuguese-era village next door.

Extra ideas for the free evenings
Day 1 and Day 3 evenings are deliberately unplanned — we're meeting after years, and the best hours will be the unscheduled ones. Here are options, only if the group wants them.
Mandovi sunset cruise
A one-hour boat from Santa Monica jetty in Panaji with live Goan folk music. Cheap, cheerful and easy to do as a group of ten.
Saturday Night Market, Arpora
Ingo's Night Market is a two-minute drive from Arpora: live bands, food stalls, and shopping until late. A great fallback if the South Goa day ends early.
Spice plantation lunch
Sahakari or Tropical Spice Plantation near Ponda — guided walk, elephant-free ethical tours, and an unlimited Goan thali on banana leaf.
Dudhsagar Falls
At its most thunderous in August, but jeep safaris often close during heavy rain. Only attempt if a full day frees up and permits are running.
Chorão / Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary
A mangrove sanctuary a short ferry from Ribandar — kingfishers, egrets and complete quiet, best just after sunrise.
